Do you live in California? Do you have a burning desire to own a Honda Civic? Is regular gasoline too mainstream for you? Well, you’re in luck: Honda has announced that Californians interested in purchasing its Civic Natural Gas vehicle will be eligible to receive a $1,000 credit available immediately at any certified Honda Civic Natural Gas dealer.
As an added perk, Civic Natural Gas drivers will also be eligible to use HOV carpool lanes and high occupancy toll lanes in the Greater Los Angeles area.
Civic Natural Gas vehicles run on 100-percent compressed natural gas, which is a cleaner burning (and up to 40-percent cheaper) fuel source versus traditional unleaded gasoline. Honda’s natural gas-burning Civic still achieves a combined 31 mpg, and it can be filled at any of California’s 150 natural gas stations.
Don’t expect to do much cross shopping, however. The Civic Natural Gas is the only CNG-powered consumer vehicle for sale by a major manufacturer in United States. And don't wait too long, either: The credit is limited to the first 1,600 Civic Natural Gas buyers.
