'Get Your Heart Racing' returns to Detroit Sept. 12-13
The "Get Your Heart Racing" auction will offer hot laps at Ford's Dearborn Proving Grounds.
The annual “Get Your Heart Racing” fund-raiser returns to Detroit's Eastern Market on Sept. 12-13 with Ford as the lead sponsor. In its first three years, the event raised $1.8 million for the Edith and Benson Ford Heart & Vascular Institute. Roger Penske and Andra Rush joined Raj Nair and Paul and Lynn Alandt in co-chairing the Honorary Committee.
The event is centered on an auction at Detroit's historic Eastern Market, which will include ride and drive experiences, meet and greet opportunities with Ford execs and dinner and entertainment. The piéce de résistance is a one-of-a-kind, yet-to-be-announced Ford vehicle.
“The world-class cardiovascular patient care we deliver and the life-saving techniques we are constantly exploring are important far beyond Detroit,” said Ruth Fisher, vice president at the Heart & Vascular Institute. “But it's dedicated and generous Detroiters who provide the funding that enables us to do it and we count on their support to allow us to continue our work. That's why this event is so important and why we work so hard to make it a fabulous and exciting experience for our guests.”
The event opens with the Crest Automotive Pit Party featuring dinner, live entertainment and the auction. Drives won at the auction will take place on the following day at Ford's Dearborn Proving Grounds.
Sponsors for this year's event include Ford Motor Co., Crest Automotive Group, Comerica Bank, Village Ford, Continental Catering and Events, Heidie M. Gorno, Superior Ambulance, Lear Corporation, Panasonic Automotive Systems of America, Fritz Enterprises, Penske Corporation, Powerlink, Ken & Marilyn Way, Goodyear, Detroit Manufacturing Systems, Dakkota Integrated Systems, Team Detroit, WF Whelan Co., and R.H. Bluestein Co.
