Mecum Auctions readies factory-red Veyron
Mecum Auctions is preparing hundreds of vehicles to roll across the stage at its June 13-14 sale in Seattle. A low-mileage 2008 Bugatti Veyron will highlight the exquisite lineup.
Tagged as lot F202.1, the luscious red Veyron has a robust 1,000-hp 8.0-liter quad-turbo 16-cylinder engine raging under the hood. The massive powerhouse is capable of propelling this beast from 0-60 mph in less than three seconds, with the ability of climbing to speeds above 250 mph -- granted the tarmac is long enough. Why you would want to have a car capable of that speed is beyond us, unless you own a runway, at which point you could make runs until your heart's content.
Over its six short years on the road, this Veyron only added 2,600 miles on the clock -- less than 40 miles a month, weather permitting. Mecum says the interior still hints of its newness with that supple leather aroma wafting from the car's inside. And if you're worried about maintenance, don't! The glove box is chock-full of service records ringing up to $39,551. It has been meticulously maintained in every sense of the word.
While this hypercar is no petrol sipper, the auction price will presumably follow in line with the car's $1.5 million base price. It just depends on how many paddles are raised.
The Mecum auction block will also feature showstoppers like a 1971 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda convertible, 1967 Chevrolet Corvette L88 coupe -- no sinkhole here! -- and a collection of four matching Boss Mustangs ranging from 1969-2012 dubbed the Calypso Coral Boss Quartet .
