Watch a 1,300-hp Porsche spin at 180 mph

Top-speed run gets hairy, ends OK
King Kong Porsche 996 TT
King Kong was spun by driver Kong Chang at a top speed event in Texas.

“I've spun faster than that.”
That was the sheepish refrain from Porsche driver Kong Chang at the Texas Invitational, after he blew a tire and spun at about 180 mph.
“It was 179.99, I was like, could you at least write 180?” said Chang.
As flatsixes.com reports, Chang was pushing his approximately 1,300-hp 2001 Porsche 911, aka “King Kong,” on an airstrip in Texas when he spun right, corrected left and came to a halt a few hundred feet down the pavement with a “woo!”

King Kong was built by BBi Autosport, which has a great photo set of the car in various stages of assembly. It has BBi's B15E package, which is good for 1,500 hp; a Brembo brake kit; carbon-fiber wheels; and Tial turbochargers and wastegates.
