Peugeot's new 108 city car goes on sale at the start of July 2014, with more trim levels, personalisation options and a cabrio variant
Price and specification details for the forthcoming Peugeot 108 have been announced, with the city car starting from £8,245 when it goes on sale in the UK at the beginning of July.
That’ll get you the entry-level 1.0-litre three-door in Access trim,
with prices rising to £12,245 for the 1.2-litre five-door cabrio.
As with the Citroen C1 and Toyota Aygo
it was developed alongside, the peel-back fabric roof is new to the
2014 French city car. 108 models featuring the retractable ceiling will
be labelled TOP! to mark them out from the standard hatch.
Four trim options will be offered – Access, Active, Allure and Feline
– although cabrio models are only going to be sold in mid-range Active
and Allure spec.
Peugeot 108 2014 specifications
Kicking off the range is Access (£8,245) trim, available on
three-door models only, with standard kit including LED daytime running
lights, remote central locking, six airbags, ESP stability control and a
USB socket.
Opting for Active (£9,495) adds body-coloured door mirrors and
handles, air conditioning, DAB digital radio, seven-inch infotainment
system with Mirror Screen and Bluetooth connectivity, as well as
steering mounted controls and electric front windows.
Meanwhile, selecting the Active trim for the equivalent TOP! variant
will add £850 to the basic price, meaning the cabriolet starts at
£10,345.
Allure (£10,995) improves on the Active spec with 15-inch Thorren
alloy wheels, front fog lights, auto headlights, heated door mirrors, a
reversing camera, keyless entry, a stop-start engine button and tinted
rear windows, alongside leather steering wheel and gear knob.
Peugeot also offers a flagship Feline trim for the hatchback, which
apparently “adds a touch of luxury” with leather upholstery, chrome door
handles and mirrors, and automatic dual zone air-con.
Both the 108 Hatch and TOP! go on sale with a choice of two petrol
engines, a 68bhp 1.0-litre three-cylinder unit and Peugeot’s new
1.2-litre PureTech
VTi capable of 82bhp. Each promises to emit less than 100g/km of CO2.
Power will reach the front wheels via a five-speed manual, although
customers can choose a semi-automatic gearbox on the 1.0-litre engine.
On top of the four trim levels, Peugeot
is encouraging customers to personalise their car thanks to a choice of
eight bold body colours and three different roof shades. Additional
Diamond, Kilt, Barcode, Dressy, Tattoo and Sport themes are available
for £350, while two-tone Purple Berry/Zircon Grey paint costs £850.
