Volkswagen New Midsize Coupe concept revealed

VW's New Midsize Coupe concept unveiled at the 2014 Beijing Motor Show

This is the Volkswagen New Midsize Coupe concept, unveiled at the Beijing Motor Show.
Designed by Volkswagen’s lead designer Klaus Bischoff and his team, the four-door coupe appears to take several design cues from the current VW Golf, suggesting it could preview a production CC model based on the hatchback.
VW claims the 1,422mm high New Midsize Coupe “exhibits proportions of an extremely sporty nature” and, at 1838mm wide and 4,597mm long, it’s both shorter and wider than the Passatand Jetta
A “low visual centre of gravity” is achieved thanks to the front fascia’s wide central air intake, short overhangs and the long bonnet with pronounced arch. At the back, the C-pillars flow into a short boot lid, combining with the concept’s wide hips and pronounced wheel arches to emphasise the low profile.
Inside, the cabin has been stripped back, with the uncluttered dash creating a driver-oriented interior look.
Sitting on 245/40 tyres with 20-inch alloys, power for the concept comes from a 217bhp four-cylinder TSI engine, capable of 0-62mph in 6.5 seconds and a top speed of 152mph.
