Now Here’s a Pair of Hot Buicks You Should Want [2014 Beijing Auto Show]

Buicks are hugely popular in China, so we weren’t surprised to see the automaker’s show stand at the2014 Beijing auto show was massive—and massively crowded. What we weren’t expecting to see, however, was a pair of crazy-awesome Buick concept cars decked out with racing touches. Never mind that most of the add-on parts on this Regal GS and Excelle XT (essentially a China-only Opel Astra/Buick Verano five-door) appear to be purely cosmetic. These are Buicks we truly want

Both cars wear an identical white paint job with cool gray and red stripes, both ride on blacked-out Regal GS rims, and both sit on lowered suspensions. The Regal GS is further amped up with a humorously large rear wing, while the Excelle XT gets four embiggened exhaust outlets.

From what we could gather from Buick China’s team, the two cars are merely one-offs designed to attract consumer attention toward the more-conventional Regal GS and the humble Excelle XT. But we certainly wouldn’t mind if at least the tricked-out Excelle made it to our shores. We know Buick is considering adding more GS models to its lineup, including possibly a Verano GS, yet a five-door Buick hot hatch would be so, so much better, don’t you think?
