MINI DeLux limited edition revealed at the 2014 New York Motor Show

Owner-designed MINI DeLux to make its debut at the New York Motor Show, ahead of a limited production run

This is the MINI DeLux, a limited edition design package for the new hatchback that's been unveiled at the New York Motor Show.
Created by Virginia Commonwealth University student Alex Coyle as part of MINI USA’s Final Test Test Drives contest, the DeLux was one of ten concepts shortlisted for the title of best ‘MINI Originals’ styling and options pack.
Fans selected it their favourite in an online vote, and the winning owner-developed design will now go on sale across the States as part of a short production run.

Specification details are pretty thin on the ground, however the design is clearly highly stylised – a black exterior is overlaid with luminescent green detailing, as well as contrasting-colour wing mirror casings.
Explaining the inspiration behind the name, Coyle said: “‘Lux’ is the root meaning of ‘light’. After I went through all the options I had available to customize the car I went for all the bells and whistles and created what I call a “Deluxe” model. The result was ‘DeLux’.”
There’s no word on pricing for the America-only special edition, but MINI has confirmed that no more than 56 will be made.
MINI is also showing a facelifted version of the Countryman crossover in New York this week.
